DRUMBOTIC is the prosthetic manifestation of this curiosity. The experimental sound project allows a person or group to tap on a coffee cup and strike objects and architectures as near as a ceiling overhead and far as a mile away. This distance is traversed  wirelessly, leaving little or no evident trace back to the “drummer.” (The wires pictured above only link the strikers to each other).

The aesthetic affects of this experience are at once jovial, playful, perplexing, concerning and threatening. To pose a threat is not the intention. The intention is to reinvestigate our surroundings in a playful and nonsensical manner; an interplay with objects and architectures and the usual social and personal affect of their design.

Drumbotic was created in residency at AS220, in 2010.
